Accidental Slow-mo is a major win

I was surprised to find that my two of videos from this weeks strength training portion of X-IT were accidentally shot in the slow motion video mode. I will admit that my initial reaction was disappointment and I considered not posting them to my Instagram. After watching them through a couple of times, however, I decided that they’re actually a great thing to share. Because it’s in slow motion, you can see really tell how I’m working to get through these 10 reps using 35 pound dumbbells. This video was shot after I had already completed the 15 minute treadmill running circuit. It’s the first set in my second round of the TRX/drop set supersets that make up the strength portion of the strength circuit. So I’m already starting to feel the muscle fatigue at this point. Hence the pained facial expressions.

If you’ve never done drop sets, I highly recommend adding them to  your lifting regimen. By starting out heavy, you’re causing your muscles to fatigue faster even as you go down with your weight. This means you’re forcing your muscles to work harder even as you decrease your weights. Often with drop sets, you end up having to use lower weights even on your second round of exercises.
