Favorite OOTD: November 2016

So my blog has been pretty heavy on the fitness posts thus far, which make sense since I treat my dedication to fitness almost like a job. I can honestly say that I keep track of what day of the week it is based on what my workout is for that day. I do, however, take the time to post a unique outfit of the day (OOTD) picture on Instagram every single day. I love showing other people that they can feel confident expressing themselves through their own unique sense of fashion. I don’t always match perfectly and I’m sure there are many people who would not be caught dead in some of the outfits I pull together. But I can say that I’m always happy with any outfit that makes it onto my Instagram feed. I will then use my blog to showcase some of my favorite outfits and explain some of the method behind my madness.

So without further ado,  this is my favorite outfit from November of 2016: 30958578891_0b66ffb5f0_o

The second I saw this deer patterned Madison skirt, I knew that I HAD to have it. As a huge Harry Potter fan, this pattern reminds me very much of Harry’s patronus. This is due not only to the fact that it’s a bunch of stag heads, but because in sort of a otherworldly manner. I could almost believe their meant to be viewed as transparent like a patronus.  I knew that this skirt would be the perfect complement for my marauder’s map t-shirt from Torrid. I was so excited when I put this outfit on, because I felt like it was such an obvious homage to Harry Potter. I picked a day when we would be meeting up with all of my mom friends for play date, and couldn’t wait for people to get as excited about my outfit as I was. Well it turns out that none of the moms who attended that day have read Harry Potter or even seen the movies. So I had to take some time to explain to them, why these two pieces not only went together but just how epic the pairing was. That evening, my husband also failed to make the connection between the two. While it was disappointing that people didn’t just “get” how awesome my outfit was that day, it doesn’t take away from how happy I am with how this whole outfit came together. As someone who tends more towards the geeky side of things, it’s not really surprising that this happens from time to time. I figured that Harry Potter was mainstream enough, however, that most people my age would readily detect the underlying theme.
