No need to pack up your summer clothes once winter hits: sometimes you’ve gotta wear a mini-skirt

Anyone who lives in a place with all four seasons, knows what it’s like to pack up one season’s wardrobe as the next gets into full swing. Once winter hits, most people pack up their adorable sundresses, shorts, or skirts in favor of their long pants, sweaters, and sweatshirts. It’s a big process, and can always be foiled by the unnaturally warm or cold day after you’ve put away all of the previous season’s wardrobe. Since I am currently overrun with clothes from all seasons, I’ve got more access to all of my clothing options than I normally would this time of year.

Winter is in full swing up here in Illinois, but when I was pulling my outfit together I caught sight of my favorite jean miniskirt. As I reached for it, I knew that it was way too cold to wear just a miniskirt out as our high for the day was 23 degrees Fahrenheit. So almost as soon as I picked it up, I set it back down and looked for more weather appropriate bottoms to go with my Union Jack Jolly Roger sweater. Nothing really was speaking to me, however, so I decided to make it work. I immediately went to my leggings drawer to see what my options were. I didn’t have any red leggings in the right shade, so I pulled out my trusty black leggings.

I love how this outfit came together, I’m comfy but still warm. I’m glad that I didn’t just give up on my idea of wearing a miniskirt even though it is cold and snowy outside. Even better, the new Andy’s Frozen Custard near us was offering free treats tonight in preparation for their grand opening this week. I’m one of those weirdos who enjoys ice cream all year long even if I’m freezing to death. I feel like this outfit was very fitting for this occasion. I’m not going to let winter weather limit my wardrobe like it has in the past. This year, I’m going to make my decisions based on what I want to wear and not what the weather calls for.20161212_192413
