Stress lifting- even better than stress eating

Like many people, I tend to binge on comfort foods when I get stressed out. It  has not been unheard of for me to eat ice cream straight out of the carton or polish off at least half of a pizza when I get bad news. Last week, I got some not great news and my first instinct was not to drown my stress in calories but rather to sweat it out. This may have been influenced by the fact that I got the news shortly before my scheduled training session, but I walked into the gym ready to push myself to the limits. I was able to do 7 reps at my leg press PR of 630# and I left the gym feeling accomplished and remarkably less stressed. Now before I reach for the junk food, I’m going to try a good workout first. The endorphins rush doesn’t lead to any guilt or upset stomach issues
