Anyone who follows me on Instagram is aware that I have a pretty major LuLaRoe addiction. Honestly almost all of my clothes come from one of three places: LuLaRoe, Lane Bryant, or Torrid. These are the companies that sell clothes that fit my body best, and I feel that their designs express my own personal fashion sense best. LuLaRoe is definitely the most recent of these three companies to enter my life, but I fell fast and I fell hard. For anyone who hasn’t bought LLR, it is done through consultants either locally through pop–up parties or online primarily through FB groups. They only make a limited number of items in each pattern, so highly sought after and hard to find patterns have become known as unicorns. The best part of this is that what I would consider a unicorn is not always considered a unicorn by other people. I’m a little more willing to go for crazy prints, so I’ve actually been quite lucky at acquiring many of my personal unicorns. And ironically enough, many of my unicorns are actual unicorns.
The picture above is one of my favorite pieces that I’ve acquired. Not only is it my favorite color, but it is completely covered in unicorns. They are actually embossed into the fabric. I included a close-up so everyone could get a sense of just how awesome this fabric is. I loved this piece so much that I bought a size smaller than I normally do, and kept my fingers crossed that it would actually fit me. Thank God, it had just enough stretch for it to work for me. I know I would have been heartbroken to have to send it back. I saved this amazing dress to be my very first ootd of 2017, even though I got it months ago. Wearing this dress just makes me happy, and I thought it would be the perfect way to welcome 2017. This dress style is the Nicole, and I feel like it’s a princess dress. The skirt is so flowy and actually super fun to twirl in. And I do try to twirl as much as possible when I’m wearing a Nicole. Any item of clothing that can make you twirl around like a little kid is a winner in my book, and this is coming from someone who refused to wear dresses growing up.
If you haven’t seen Central Intelligence, you’re probably pretty confused about the title of this blog. In the movie, Dwayne Johnson plays a character who was bullied in high school that grows up to become well Dwayne Johnson and all that that entails. He is amazing in this role, and when Kevin Hart meets up with him the first time he is wearing a unicorn shirt with the words “Always Be You”. When asked about the shirt, he responds with “Unicorns are the most lethal animal on the planet.” Not only is this line hilarious, but the way that he delivers it is so serious and just amazing. Considering the pattern on this Nicole, this quote was running through my head the whole time I wore it.
