I blame my delay for this week’s Motivation Monday on my first race of the season. No matter how many miles I’ve logged or races I’ve completed, the first one of the racing season always seems more grueling than all the subsequent races. While I didn’t set any new pace PRs, I’m super proud of myself for running the entire 3.1 miles. This winter was not great for me with regards to training for races due to an incredibly icy winter and two different bouts of bronchitis. So for me to make it through my first 5k without walking was a big accomplishment.
Now on to my favorite workout video for last week
While this particular squat machine is brand-new to my gym, I have done squats on a machine more times than I can remember. This is 140# of plates- 70 on each side. While I’ve done machine squats with more weight, I love this video because it show all the progress I’ve made with regards to form. I first started lifting heavy again after my son was born 2.5 years ago. t that time, I couldn’t really get very deep with my squats and my form wasn’t the best. My knees didn’t always stay behind my toes or I didn’t sit back enough into the squat. As a result, I was t reaping the full benefits of a well executed squat. In this video, however, my form is on point. One of the other trainers at my gym even made it a point to compliment me on how much my form as improved after watching this video on Instagram. So while this is not a PR victory, I could not be more proud to see how much I’ve grown through my fitness journey over the past 2.5 years.
This is so awesome Shelly! I’m proud of reading and seeing your accomplishments! You truly inspire me to get back into the lifting game ?
