I just couldn’t pick from my two videos from my leg day last Thursday, so I’ve decide to share both with you this week. It was a particularly good training workout on Thursday with a pretty high calorie burn. I also got to try one of the new hydromassage tables spin the gym spa, so it was a pretty memorable gym day for me.
I’ve wanted to try out a Jacob’s ladder ever since I learned about them. When I found out that my gym had acquired two of them, I jumped up and down with excitement like a little kid. I could not wait till they were hooked up and I could play around with them. I was NOT disappointed. There really is nothing like this machine. It’s super low impact on your body, and you determine how fast or slow it moves. As complicated as it first appears, it is one of the easiest cardio machines to operate. There are no incline or speed controls to worry about. You just select your height on the belt and strap it on. Then you climb on to the rungs and start climbing it like a ladder. The higher up you are on the rungs the faster you go. So if you want to slow down you just allow yourself to slide towards the bottom of them machine. There’s is no way to shoot off the end unlike a treadmill or step machine. And it’s fun yet challenging. My heart rate reached running levels within 60 seconds. I look forward to getting more endurance on this machine and being able to do longer stretches.
Another new addition to our gym is this amazing multi-station apparatus. It has everything from monkey bars to a squat station to a boxing bag to this amazing moveable step platform. This can be used for a number of different exercises. Here I’m using it to do step ups. This is the highest level we attempted, and I’m pretty sure the highest I can go for this particular exercise. Step ups are always a great way to get your heart rate up, but when your stationary is almost 2 full feet off the ground it adds a significant level of difficulty. This was a fun challenge and definitely got my blood pumping.
I’m definitely gonna try to get myself on both those things now! The jacob’s ladder sounds fun yet a big challenge!
