So this week’s video is super special. I try to post at least a couple of workout videos on my Instagram page every single day. Most of these are from that day’s workout, although the videos I post on the weekend are from my boxing and XIT workout earlier in the week. While I do workout 7 days a week, I don’t think anyone would be particularly interested in videos of me running and I’m not even sure how I would shoot those anyways. The goal of my Instagram and this blog is to show people that you can truly be fit at any size. I may not be super skinny, but I am strong and can do things that many other people would find almost impossible. And that’s what works me for me and my body. While I’m actually maintaining my weight, I am seeing visible changes in my body composition due to my increased intensity workouts. And that is good enough for me.
As I mentioned above, this week’s Motivation Monday video is extra special. This is mainly due to the fact that it was reposted by the @plusmodelmag Instagram account. There are several different hashtags that I use regularly in an attempt to reach a larger audience, including theirs. In the 3 hours since this video was reposted, it has received over 14,000 views. Based on the number of new followers I’ve gained, it’s clear that this video has reached people who had not previously seen my account. This in conjunction with all the positive comments have made me feel so happy in an almost overwhelming way. Complete strangers have told me I inspire them to try things they never would have considered before and it makes me feel good to show people not to fear trying new types of workouts.
So this exercise utilizes the TRX bands which are an amazing piece of equipment that can be used for so many types of workouts. To do this like, you get into a plank position with one foot in each TRX handle. Even just holding the plank position is a great core workout, but if you want to do the full pike then you engage your core and pull your lower body up into position. Now this is a strange motion of you’ve never done it before, and it took me several different attempts before I was able to execute a full pike. You then lower back down into the plank position and repeat. I can usually only do 5 consecutive pikes before I need to stop and take a break. But as I said before it is an amazing ab workout and looks SUPER COOL.
