This exercise is a great example of a compound exercise. It combines a curtsy lunge with a squat. I added the kettle bell to make it more intense. Each set I did of these, I went with a slightly heavier kettle bell and did less reps. But even with the lightest weight, my heart rate got up to 150 bpm by the last rep. This is significant, because that’s a solid cardio workout heart rate. I also did a set of these on each side, so it was an amazing calorie burn. I love doing moves like this take a little more coordination and concentration. They’re great when you’ve got a limited amount of time to get your workout in as you’re doing two exercises in each movement.
