I work out a lot, which can make it hard to keep a good amount of variety or challenge to keep things interesting. This week’s XIT routine actually reminded me that is important to not just focus on forward motions when you workout. There are also modifications you can use for backwards motion or lateral motions, especially lunges. This exercise, which is called ice skaters, involves lateral movements and is plyo metric in nature. These are great for raising your heart rate, which is why we had sets of ice skaters between each of our strength exercises. Ice skaters are also great for working on balance and coordination. Even with all the working out that I do regularly, I found that my glutes and hips were extra sore after this workout due to all of the lateral movements. It just goes to show how important it is to make sure that you’re working out all of your different muscle groups.
