Motivation Monday- change things up by holding it

Mixing up your routine helps to avoid the plateaus that result when you do the same workouts too much with regards to type of exercises or added weight. I do a lot of squats and that’s one reason why my legs are so strong. I do them on the floor, with added weight, with different timing, on the bosu, etc. I do all these different variations so my body never gets used to any one type of squat. As part of our boxing workout today, the instructor had me hold my squat position for 30 seconds. Even with all the squats I do pretty regularly, holding a squat for an extended period of time is a challenge. My thighs were definitely burning as we got to the end of the time period, but it felt so great to be able to hold and maintain proper form for the full amount of time. I know a lot of people don’t try to hold the squat position but it really is a great way to mix up your workouts.
