Ducking is an important part of boxing, but can be hard to get a feeling for when working with the bags. So our trainer rigged up some resistance bands between two of the rowers, which helps us get nice and low. After the first time through, he adds in some weights to make it a little more difficult. Even with light weights (7.5 pounds in this case), you can feel a difference especially when you’re punching. Adding weights is actually a perfect way to add more variety into any workout. It’s a great way to not have exercises you do regularly use their effectiveness. If you just do the same thing over and over again, eventually your body becomes so used to it that it no longer has to work as hard. This allows you to have a basic set of exercises that make up your workout routine.
