Since Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Mondays this year (and next year), I will have to go without my regular boxing class for the next two weeks. I’m not the kind of person who can just enjoy having those days off, so I had to find something else to take it’s place. My boxing instructor has been trying to get me to come to his Kettlebell class for a while, but I don’t ant to overtrain so I’ve been putting it off. I’ve used kettlebells during many other workout sessions, but have never done an entire workout that was so focused on kettlebells. As someone who regularly does intensive cardio and weightlifting workouts, I figured this class would be a breeze. Oh boy, was I wrong. Even without any time spent on the treadmill, my heart rate reached 150 bpm several times during the class. I actually had to stop several times to catch my breath before continuing on. We did three different 15 minute rounds with 4 exercises each: the first two rounds were split into two supersets, which we did 2 times each. All of the rounds we kept repeating over and over till the 15 minutes had passed. It was kind of a cool experience for me to be so challenged by this class. It’s always nice to find something that takes you out of your comfort zone. Sometimes you just need a good ass whooping.
