In recent years, I’ve become much more adventurous in my fashion. All through college and even grad school, it was a pretty good bet that I would be wearing a concert tee and jeans or sweatpants on any given day. It was only after I started working that I strayed from my college uniform. But even then, I would revert to my tried and true casual wardrobe when the weekend hit. It was only when I auditioned to be the next face of Torrid 3 years ago that I started “dressing up” most days. Suddenly skirts and dresses became the staple pieces of my wardrobe. My confidence really grew during this period and I never really reached for my old concert shirts. In fact, I put them all in a box to eventually be made into a quilt.
A couple months ago, I realized that it had been forever since I reached for one of my concert shirts and it was super sad. I pulled out my Cherry Poppin’ Daddies shirt and a pair of sweatpants. It felt really comforting to be wearing that again. That was the day I found out that my husband LOVES when I dress like this. Even more so than the more sexy outfits that make me feel so self confident. So I’ve been adding outfits like this back into the rotation. I love this shirt I got when I saw TLC a couple years ago. They were one of my favorite bands and their music still gets a lot of playtime on my iPod. And this shirt is the BOMB. It always makes people smile. It’s so nice to be able to bring back great memories from my past by wearing my concert tees instead of letting them waste away in a box in my closet.
