With all the boxing classes I’ve taken, it’s always a fun treat to get to do shadow boxing. Usually we spend the majority of class time hitting either the bags, working with the focus mitts, or punching its weights. These are great for getting a sense of how it feels to land a punch or help to build endurance. This week our instructor added a couple different rounds of shadow boxing due to an abnormally large class size. We normally have 2-4 people in our Monday class, and today we had 7. So he had to come up with ways to create more stations without taking up too much additional space.

The first time through, I chose to create a combination that I would repeat until the 45 seconds were up. I did a simple jab-cross-knee. The second time through I played around more with all the different punches and kicks at my disposal. I really like that you can see more of the mechanics of the moves from this perspective. While I love the videos at the bag, those videos can only be shot from the side or from the back. It’s neat to have a different viewpoint.
