This week, my trainer and I decided that it would be fun to do plié squats with a big 45# plate instead of using dumbbells. Very quickly, however, we had to get creative. The reason we’ve been using dumbbells for plié squats is that the bigger plates don’t really allow much range of movement with regard to squat depth. Thankfully the gym gods were on our side, and were able to grab two benches for me to stand on. This video is really cool p, because my trainer walked around so you can see my form from different angles. As you can see, I am able to get a really deep squat without the size of the plate messing with my form. There’s a couple other moves I’m going to have to get creative with as I’m nearing the maximum weights that I can add, so I’m sure there will be more posts about this in the near future.
