We’ve been using the jump rope as one of our conditioning exercises more during boxing class. I’m still not talented to do the “boxer skip” side to side jump rope, but I have been trying to up my jump rope game in other ways. Today, I added in a few criss crosses. I would jump 10 times and then toss in a criss cross. Even just adding a few criss crosses to my normal 45 second round of jumping, greatly increased my heart rate and the difficulty level. I am very happy that I didn’t accidentally whip myself with the jump rope at all during this attempt. I’m hoping as I get in more time with the jump rope that I can add even more tricks into my repertoire. It is truly amazing how good jump roping is for your cardiovascular health, and it’s not too jarring on the joints.
