We started off boxing today holding a kick for 30 seconds on each side. While these videos are not as exciting as most of my other boxing videos, holding this position is an amazing glute exercise. Although having contact with the bag does help maintain your balance, the majority of the work is being done by the leg on the floor and your core. It’s always surprisingly humbling when such a simple move packs such a punch. It’s easy to get caught up in trying to do more difficult and interesting looking movements. I’ll admit that they make much more interesting videos, but to have to really concentrate on keeping one position for an extended period of time should not be overlooked. This can be applied to any number of different exercises such as push-ups or even squats.
