While boxing is my main source of stress relief, there are other exercises that can be just as effective for relieving stress if you do them correctly. My favorite of these would be medicine ball slams. There is just something so inherently satisfying after lifting a weighted ball over your head and slamming it to the ground again and again. Our gym recently switched out the bouncy medicine balls for sand filled medicine balls, which means you have to squat down to retrieve the ball after each slam. This particular medicine ball weighed 20 pounds and I’m super proud of myself for slamming it down hard enough that I was able to get a little bit of a bounce out of it. It is also amazing how satisfying the sound of the ball hitting the ground is and how strong it makes me feel. There were definitely people who looked around to see what the noise was while I was doing my reps.
