So I’m the odd one out in my boxing class when it comes to the boxer’s choice bag, regardless of who is in class for me. Everyone else loves this bag, since it doesn’t involve remembering a specific combination. As the combinations get longer, it can definitely be had to remember them all. I, however, love the mental challenge that comes from remembering the more complicated combinations. I actually find it harder to come up with my own combination on the fly. I approach the combinations as almost a dance, and you can tell when I find my groove. I always feel like the boxer’s choice bag looks chaotic, but I still give it my all. This one is particularly messy as I almost fell backwards on my first jump kick. Since this bag swings, it can be hard to do moves like a jump kick. In this instance, I hit the bag as it swing towards me and it knocked me off balance a bit. I was able to catch myself thankfully and executed a more solid jump kick. No matter what I will always approach every bag or conditioning exercise in boxing full out and give it everything I’ve got. It’s not always going to be pretty and at some point I’m sure I’ll fall on my ass, but with each class and each punch I’m getting stronger and better and that’s what matters the most in the grand scheme of things.
