Workout Wednesday- pushing yourself to failure is a good thing

With my weekly XIT workouts, you’re always supposed to do as many reps as possible (AMRAP) during each 15 minute circuit. For some people, this means trying to get through each circuit as many times as possible in the time given. I have found that for me it works best if I focus on doing as much weight as possible and just try to get through the strength and conditioning circuits once each. In fact, I often don’t make it all the way through. And that’s totally fine as well. I take how far I got through into consideration for the second week and adjust my weights to get a little further. I often push myself to wear I need to “collapse” a bit after some of the more strenuous exercises. The great thing about wearing heart rate monitors during the class is that I can see when I need to let my heart rate drop down a little before continuing on. Today during one of my collapse moments, I got this awesome photo when the instructor came to check in me. I love catching moments like this as it shows that you’re always working towards an even higher fitness level. As far as I’ve come in my journey, there are still amazing things left for me to accomplish. I actually caught a really cool video showing me doing push-ups to failure. I did the number we were supposed to, but the last couple were very difficult. As a result, as soon as I finished the last rep I just collapsed to the ground. I love seeing me push myself to the limit as that’s how I will make gains.
