Workout Wednesday- don’t sell yourself short

I’m not someone who shies away from a challenge, but I am also aware of my weaknesses. It’s important to know what could lead to an injury and find out acceptable modifications to help avoid an injury. While I am very strong, I am also pretty awful at hanging. This goes all the way back to the presidential fitness tests when I was a child. I just could not get the hang of hanging for whatever reason. So when I saw that one of the moves in the new XIT workout was a burpee to a hanging knee raise, I immediately asked for a modification. It’s not worth it to injure myself by doing a move that I know is a big strain on my wrists. I was given the modification and fully planned on using it. When I got to this particular exercise, I decided I would at least give it a try. Much to my surprise, I was not only able to do one rep but was able to complete the required reps. I’m so glad that I decided to give it my best. I have gotten much stronger than I had realized and am hoping that there may be more hanging moves in my future.
