My 6 year old daughter is a jump roping machine. She spend a good chunk of every evening jump roping and makes it look so easy to jump rope for 5 minutes straight. Unfortunately, that is not the case for adults. Jump roping is a killer cardio activity, but it is hard. I can definitely not jump rope for 5 minutes straight and am happy when I can make it 30 seconds without whipping myself or almost tripping myself. That being said, it is an AMAZING workout. I always enjoy when we get to jump rope during boxing, and decided to show off a little by tossing in a criss-cross every so often. This is a great thing to add into your workout routine for short but intense bursts of cardio. It’s totally possible to get your heart rate up to the same level as running without too much effort. And it can be a fun way to impress your kid by showing off your skills.
