It has been really fun getting to add new moves into our boxing workouts as we’ve all become more proficient at the basic punches and kicks. Not only do we get to try more complicated moves and combinations, but today we got to add kicks into our focus mitt sessions. It was a little different to get used to kicking the mitts instead of punching, especially when our trainer would throw in a switch kick. It was so fun to try out the kicking combinations against a person though. I will admit that I pulled back a little as I didn’t want to risk kicking him by accident but as I get more comfortable I will definitely put more power behind my kicks. Focus mitts are so nice to teach you control instead of just taking all your frustrations out on the bag. While that is one of my favorite things about boxing, it can be easy to get caught up in the power and not the form.
