Motivation Monday- taking control of my weight and health

I was recently diagnosed with both high cholesterol and diabetes, which both run in my family. I’ve always sworn that if my weight ever started to affect my health then I would do everything in my power to get it under control. It has been almost two weeks since my diagnoses and I’m already seeing positive changes. It has been such a blessing that I was already pretty fit despite my extra weight. When I first lost weight 9 years ago, I was both overweight and out of shape. It wasn’t until I saw my pictures from my honeymoon that I realized just how much weight I had gained over time.

It was these images that made me decide to first make changes for my health. I began 2010 the thinnest I could remember.

In the subsequent years, I’ve had two children and not been quite as strict with my eating. I changed my focus from having to lose weight to maintaining my fitness level. I didn’t want to teach my daughter to have any of the issues with food that I had through college and after. So even though I gained some weight, I maintained a fair amount of muscle mass. I knew that if it ever came to pass that I needed to lose some weight that being fit would work in my favor. The two videos that I’m going to share are exactly 2 weeks apart, and 1 week into me cutting almost all carbs from my diet. It’s crazy that I am able to see a difference in such a short period of time. I know that I will be able to manage both of my new diagnoses and hope that I may even be able to reverse them. It is so important that I take care of myself so I can spend many years to come with the ones that I love
