It can get frustrating when the numbers on the scale aren’t moving as quickly as you’d like. If you’re working out while also watching your diet, chances are the scale won’t always move even if you see changes in your body. Muscle weighs more than fat but takes up less space than the same amount of fat. So it’s important to also recognize non scale victories as you’re going along. These can be anything from your clothes fitting loose to receiving compliments or even seeing progress with your workouts. I workout a lot and there are very few things that I just can’t do. But every so often, I come across a move that is difficult, if not impossible, for me to do. I am not opposed to using modifications when I come across these types of exercises, but I always look forward to trying them again and seeing some progress at a future date.
This is probably the third time I’ve come across one arm mountain climbers. The first time, I just substituted normal mountain climbers as I could not maintain my balance. The second time, I got in a couple before I just couldn’t maintain my balance anymore. This most recent attempt was by far the best and I was able to do all of the reps even though they’re not the prettiest. The only thing I’ve done between these different attempts is kept up my commitment to exercise. As I’ve gotten stronger, I gained the skill set I needed to finally be able to do this move. I know the next time I do it will go even better and will hopefully look better. No matter what, I’m proud of myself for never giving up on myself and always pushing forward.
