Yesterday I got to attend the inaugural twerking class at Motivation Fitness in Joliet. While I knew what twerking was, I had never personally attempted it. When my friend asked me to go with her, I was super psyched to try something new. The instructor Kena is not only a phenomenal twerker, but also a phenomenal teacher. She taught us several variations of the basic twerk (slow, fast, moving backwards), which we then pieced together into about a 60 second routine. As we added each new section, we went over what we had already learned and I’m super proud with the progress I made in only an hour. While I have never twerked, I really feel that my strength training really helped me with my twerking form. All the squats helped me keep a nice curve in my back and I was able to isolate my glutes. This is definitely a class I would recommend to anyone who loves to dance and try something new. And I fully intend to try to go back again soon myself.
