I love lifting heavy weight, but doing body weight exercises are also a great challenge. This circuit of our latest XIT workout involves three different kinds of body weight lunges: lateral, backwards, and TRX split squats. All three of these exercises also utilize the core to help maintain balance and I actually added a bit more core work with the jumps. Even though these moves aren’t overly complicated, you feel the effects right away. My thighs were burning after each set and I actually was able to raise my heart rate pretty high. I love these types of workouts, because they can be done anywhere you go. This is one of the reasons I love running so much. I’ve run in so many different cities and it’s always an adventure. Next time I head off on a trip, I will add this in to my workout rotation.
