This was the first time I’ve ever used the treadmill entirely using my own power to move it. I had never even thought about trying this before, but when our boxing instructor brought it up I was excited to give it a try. He told us not to be too disappointed if we couldn’t get up to a full run as it takes a lot of leg power to propel the belt yourself. I was so happy that I was able to actually run on my first attempt. I know that I have powerful legs, but wasn’t sure how that power would translate to this activity. While I can leg press over 1,000 pounds, leg pressing works your legs in a completely different way than running. While I’ve gotten better at running over time, I still feel more confident in my lifting ability than my running. It was really neat to see that my power translates into running power as well. I’m curious to know what speed I was able to get the treadmill up to, and really wish there was a way to tell that. I guess that’s the downside of using a piece of equipment in a way that wasn’t intended. I’m excited to see what other ways I can discover to use a treadmill in new and exciting ways.
